BIOGRAPHY
Aleksander Kobus was born in 1991 in Warsaw. He is the recipient of a special prize at the ARD Competition in Munich (2018). He is the principal trumpet – soloist of the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic. In December 2016, he recorded Krzysztof Penderecki’s Trumpet Concerto with the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Krzysztof Penderecki. He has been awarded numerous prestigious scholarships, including the “Young Poland” scholarship, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education scholarship, and the Yamaha Music Foundation scholarship.
In 2019, he obtained a doctoral degree (trumpet class under Prof. Igor Cecocho) at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music, where he is currently employed as a lecturer.
Education
He was born in 1991. He began his musical education at the age of 10 at the Oskar Kolberg State Music School I Degree in Warsaw, studying trumpet under Stanisław Przybyszewski. He then continued his studies at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław under Prof. Igor Cecocho, where he obtained his doctoral degree in 2019.
Before starting at the Music School, from the age of 8, he sang in the children’s choir at the Warsaw Grand Theatre. He performed numerous solo roles, including Yniold in Pelléas et Mélisande by C. Debussy, the Shepherd in Wozzeck by A. Berg, as well as roles in many other operas such as Carmen, La Damnation de Faust, King Roger, and Tosca. This early experience played a key role in shaping his further musical education.
Achievement
He has won 35 awards and distinctions in national and international competitions, including First Prize at the 10th Michał Spisak International Music Competition in Dąbrowa Górnicza, First Prize at the 14th International Chieri Competition in Italy, and First Prize at the 7th National Trumpet Festival in Kalisz. In 2018, he received a special prize at the ARD Competition in Munich, and the following year he won Second Prize at the international “Jeju Brass Competition” in South Korea. As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras such as NOSPR and the Münchener Kammerorchester.
Aleksander Kobus has also been awarded numerous prestigious scholarships, including the “Young Poland” scholarship, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education scholarship, the President of Wrocław City scholarship, and the Yamaha Music Foundation for Europe scholarship. In 2018, he was honored by the Lower Silesia Capital Club for outstanding artistic achievement.
In December 2016, together with the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra and Maestro Krzysztof Penderecki, he recorded Krzysztof Penderecki’s Trumpet Concerto. The album featuring the concerto was nominated for the “Fryderyki 2017” award.
Work
He currently holds the position of principal trumpet – soloist of the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic and is engaged in teaching at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. He also collaborates with the Capitol Musical Theatre in Wrocław.
